A LETTER FROM WILL KINNAIRD

Dear Scary Guy,

I remember you came to my school in Corby, Northamptonshire, England. Were talking years ago now.  I’ve been going through a tough time breaking up with my girlfriend and living life without my parents.

I remember the thing you done with the punch that turned into a hug; we were all doing that for weeks, months after!  All I can say is that I know I’m in a bad place now but when I pick myself up again I can get to work being the best person I can be and helping others see that person in themselves, too.

It’s all thanks to you.

If one person changes their mind that’s another person that can help change the mindsets of others and that’s something you’ve done to me.  Life is so much easier with love. It makes the mundane bearable and the ordinary more extraordinary.

Even something as simple as giving up your seat on the tube, to picking someone up who’s fallen over, or, giving a smile to someone in the street!  It might turn that persons day around.

I remember I was at Victoria station in London on my way to work when a woman had fallen down the escalators. I pressed the emergency stop and ran up to help. Within seconds everyone in the area came to help out. For that split moment hate never existed, it felt like man didn’t even acknowledge hate. I went to work late but for the entire day, never had so much faith in humanity.

I’m writing to let you know that you’ve changed the way I think and the way I feel towards others. It takes a brave person to do what you’re doing and I have limitless respect for you.

Your existence is proof that there is still goodness in the world.

For now, take care and keep in touch.

SAMANTHA EVANS A GRATEFUL MUM

Hi Scary,

You visited my kids school on Ivybridge, Devon, England last year.

My kids thought you were great and they said your story really gave them something to think about. They sort of understand how people will prejudge as we’re a biker family and some people don’t like that.

Thanks for visiting their school you made my kids feel good about who they are and you taught them to always think about other peoples feelings to.

Thank you for your visit from a very grateful mum. x x x

MELANIE IS DOING HER BEST!!!

Scary Guy,

I’m a big fan. You visited my Middle school in Ramstein so many years ago,  and inspired me to do my best and to treat people better. And so far I’m doing pretty good. I’m a Senior now and I’m about to graduate.

I was wondering if you were going to consider maybe taking some time to come back and talk at Ramstein and maybe even up at the high school. I’m sure everyone would think that’s be awesome.

I just really want to thank you for your words back then. And you were right , I still didn’t find “The perfect person”  but I found a kid that was close.

Thanks for all you do.
Melanie

MARIAN CLENNON FOM AUSTIN MINNESOTA SPEAKS

Marian J. Clennon Speaks:

I WANT TO TELL YOU THAT WHAT YOU TAUGHT IS STICKING WITH ME. iT IS A STRANGE FEELING SOMETIMES WHEN I REALIZE IT. SOMETIMES SOME OF MY OLD FRIENDS GET A LITTLE FRUSTRATED THAT I AM NOT THE OLD ME THAT KEPT REACTING.

STAYING POSITIVE IS A VERY DIFFICULT THING. ONCE YOU GET STARTED IT IS HARD TO STOP.ONE THING THAT I WOULD LIKE TO SUGGEST THAT YOU TEACH IS THAT CHANGE IN YOUR ATTITUDE DOESN’T NECESSARILY HAPPEN OVERNIGHT.

LIKE ANY CHANGE IN YOUR LIFE, IT IS GRADUAL.I STILL HAVE A WAY TO GO BUT LOVE EVEN SEEING THE CHANGE IN MY LIFE.

THANK YOU SCARY!!

Hi Scary,

You visited my school a week ago today, where you spoke to the year 13s of Sharnbrook Upper. I tried the 7 days 7 nights, but found it really difficult. I learnt something about myself doing that, I realised how all the petty words that fly out your mouth in anger do nothing except spread that anger. You don’t feel any better for them, and neither does any one else. I’m not going to give up now, just because it’s been 7 days, and I hope I get better at it as time goes on.

I know in no way am I as bad off as some, I’ve made it through my stormy years of school where I had nowhere to turn from the bullying, but I still found you immensely helpful, thank you.

I hope you are well, I know even the strongest of people sometimes need an extra 17th hug.

Kayleigh Bunker (the blonde one that came for the hug atfer your interview)
